Camp Staff

Rose Wilcox
Rose has taught K – 5th grades for the past 12 years, most spent at Peabody Charter. When not teaching, Rose can be found involved in sports such as kickboxing, swimming and soccer. She loves spending time with her family, reading, traveling and doing anything creative.  She enjoys challenges and setting goals for herself, thus running her first half marathon this last year.
 

 

 

 

 


 

 

David Archer
You can find David cheering on his beloved Bruins and analyzing every play with his degree in psychology from UCLA. He enjoys surfing, spending time with family, traveling, and reading. Mr. Archer's top reading selections are The Kite Runner and Rule of Four . One of Camp Kono's annual highlights is David's amazing and athletic dance move, The Worm.


 

                                                                                            Amy Donnell

When Amy is not doing an incredible job teaching kindergarteners at Hope School, she can be found scrap booking on Friday nights. A true perfectionist, Amy can be caught developing her group cheer for Camp Kono 2010. Amy has a degree in Human Development from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and a teaching credential from UCSB.  With her kind disposition, Mrs. Donnell is truly an asset to our camp.
 

 

                                                                                        
Josie Devine

Josie chose to run her half marathon thru the “Happiest Place On Earth,” Disneyland.  You might find her eating red vines while watching her favorite movies Gone With The Wind or Christmas Vacation.  She has taught 1st - 6th grade for the Goleta Union School District for the past 12 years.  Her best quote is, “Why have dinner when you can have dessert!”  

 

Amanda Graybill 

 

 

Amanda Graybill is a third year teacher at Mountain View School. 
She loves teaching and kids, especially her Super Sixth Graders. 
Ms.Graybill loves living in beautiful Santa Barbara.  She likes to do anything outside. 
 Her favorite dessert is brownies with vanilla ice cream. Amanda's favorite time of year
is summer vacation when she can enjoy the beach and Camp Kono!

Katherine James

Katherine has been teaching and inspiring students at Mountain View for the past 14 years. When Katherine is not chasing after her two kids, she can be found swimming, collecting sea glass, and dreaming about her next Greek meal. When she grows up she wants to travel back to Italy and Greece.

 

                                                                                 

                                              Sarah Kono

A native of Arizona, Sarah brings warmth and stability to Camp Kono. She received her degree from Northern Arizona Universty. When not motivating her Hope School kindergarteners, you can find Sarah snowboarding, traveling to Costa Rica, Sedona, and Cornville, Arizona.  She enjoys hip hop dancing, jalapeño and pineapple pizza, and reading.  

 


Jessica Mew
Jessica Mew has had the pleasure of teaching
in both the Hope School District and Ocean View
School District over the last
four years. She
received both her BA in Psychology and teaching
credential from UCSB When she’s not molding the
future of America, she enjoys watching movies, hiking,
cooking, reading, and traveling to far off places!

 

Tamarr Paul

Tamarr is singer, choreographer, performer, hip hop artist and the director of the Rhythm Dance & Fitness Studios and Rhythm Street Team.  He has worked with world renown dance choreographer Debbie Allen as a principle Hip Hop teacher at her dance academy in Culver City.   Tamarr travels to dance schools around the country educating students in the Art of Rhythm.  His attitude and aura inspires choreographers, dancers, artists, and musicians to create, own, and love their Art.

Janis Spracher

Mrs. Spracher’s highlights include “talking, reading, conversations, teaching, typing, correcting grammar, telling people what to do, shopping, tolerating kids, creative projects, acting, dancing, and Power Point”. Janis has a BA in Psychology from UC Irvine and her credential from CSU Northridge. With 10 years teaching experience in the Hope School District, Janis brings leadership, a strong foundation, and a sense of humor to Camp Kono.




                                                                                 

                                              Rob Regan

Rob grew up here in Santa Barbara and began teaching at Monte Vista in 1993 at the age of 23 He lives in SB with his college sweetheart, Susan, and their three children. When not in school, he runs a textile importing business and his own auto detailing company.  Rob is an experienced drummer and is very excited about this year’s Camp Kono.   “Kids remind you about what life should be about- fun, laughter, impulsivity, creativity, and joy!” .  


Isao Sugano
Isao “Crusher” Sugano is an avid golfer, bike rider, and surfer.  A fabulous chef and musician, Isao has 15  years experience working with Young Life and 14 years experience teaching in the Hope School District.  Mr. Sugano encapsulates the spirit of Camp Kono with his infectious enthusiasm and energy. Mr. Sugano’s claim to fame is that he is Konrad Kono’s older but better-looking brother.  

 

 

 


                                                                                            Alycia Towers

Alycia brings her artistic talents to Camp Kono. She gets creative and messy with the campers while teaching art. Alycia can be found painting and creating her own greeting cards, Didi Rocks.  When she’s not painting, taking an art class, or watching Napoleon Dynamite, Alycia works as an instructional aide for the Goleta School District.  Remember, “Vote for Pedro”.

 

   

 

Tabo Kono

Camp Kono would not be the same without Tabo Kono (Yes, Konrad’s Dad!). Tabo is a master of all trades including, greeting Camp Kono parents and children, speaking to the audience(he can tell some funny stories about Konrad), cleaning tables, moving furniture, cooking dinner for the staff, and having a positive and upbeat attitude. When not working hard at Camp Kono, look for Tabo running a marathon or building a house!
